What Do You Think of The Result?

Tell us a little more.

This is optional, but it helps us understand what people really think.

Did you vote?

Thank you for taking the time to vote. Whoever you supported, taking part matters.

What best describes how you voted?

You're not alone. Around 44,400 people did not vote in the by-election. We'd love to understand why.

Why didn't you vote?

Select as many as apply.

Do you live in the Clacton constituency?

Why do we ask? We want to understand local opinion. This is a Clacton issue, even though people from all over the country are interested in what happens here.

What would encourage you to vote next time?

Select as many as apply.

Would a genuine local candidate make you more likely to vote next time?

We believe local people should represent local communities. Someone who lives here is more likely to understand the real issues and the community than someone sent in from far away because of celebrity status or party connections.

Would you like us to keep you updated and invite you to future questions like this?

We aim to provide you with local news only. Everything we do is focused on Clacton, its communities and the things happening here.

Great. What should we call you?

These details help us keep local updates relevant to you.

Your full address is optional. Your postcode helps us send information that is relevant to your part of Clacton.

By continuing, you agree that Clacton.org can save these details with your questionnaire answers and use them to send the local updates you asked for. Privacy information.

How did you feel about Binface running for MP?

Would you support Martyn?

He runs Clacton.org and wants to help the community. Almost everything on Clacton.org is free because the aim is to bring local people together.

He ran in August 2026 and got just 65 votes, but that was brilliant because he never expected to win. He used the election to learn the process of running first-hand and, more importantly, to listen to the people of Clacton. Next time would be different: the aim would be to build a proper campaign around a team of local people who know their communities and want to help.

Would you like to join Martyn's campaign team?

How could you help?

Select as many as apply.

Would you like to meet or have a chat with Martyn?

Do you have recommendations for anyone else to join Martyn's team?

Would you consider being a candidate for MP?

It's hard work to get elected, but we could consider supporting the right person.

Do you have at least 10 people who could support your nomination?

A parliamentary nomination needs signatures from 10 registered electors in the constituency.

Do you have the £500 candidate deposit?

The deposit is lost if you poll 5% or less of the valid votes.

Why would you be a great MP?

Do you have a wider local team that could help with the campaign?

Do you have a recommendation for someone who could be the candidate for MP?

We would love to know who some of the best people in Clacton are. We would consider supporting people who are local, or have genuine local connections, and have the right experience and community connections.

Anything else you would like to tell us?

Are there any issues you would particularly like your MP to focus on?

Your Voice. We're Listening.

Clacton.org is about local people helping local people. Tell us how involved you would like to be, even if that is simply hearing what is happening locally.

What happens if a recall petition opens?

72%
of registered voters did not vote for Nigel Farage in the by-election.
Suspension does not automatically mean a new election.
About 8,000 eligible Clacton voters would need to sign the recall petition.
If fewer than 10% sign, Nigel remains MP. If 10% or more sign, his seat becomes vacant and a by-election follows.

If a recall petition opens, would you sign it?

Thanks for having your say.
